5 Menstrual Hygiene Practices

Menstrual hygiene is one of the important and mandatory routines every woman should follow during their period. Hygiene plays a vital role since it directly connects with the entire body health. When proper steps are not taken, it may even lead to many serious health issues. In the women’s life period, almost 7 years have been spent on the menstrual cycle days. Nowadays even kids attain puberty very soon like at the age of 12 – 15, whereas the average and the best age is 15 – 17. Since bad blood comes out of the body every month, the risk of heart and other diseases are low in a woman.

Here are the top 5 menstrual hygiene practises every woman should follow during their period days:

  • Change your pad every 6-7 hours:

There are many things used during period days like sanitary pads, menstrual cups, tampons, and many more. Each and every product has its own set of pros and cons. When you are using pads, you can discharge and change at any point in time, and they are comfortable too. Menstrual cups are eco-friendly products and last for a good time period when compared to other products. When you are using pads, even if they are filled or not, it is important to change them after six to seven hours. Even when you are using menstrual cups, make sure to wash them with hot water to remove the blood odour and reuse them during your next cycle.

  • No Harsh Soaps or Solutions for Intimate Wash:

As we all know, we generally wash our private areas during the menstrual cycle, after every time we use the bathroom. Water is one of the best things you can prefer than using the other scented and chemical soaps. The hair present in the area, and also the vagina has the properties to keep itself healthy, which means no external products are required. Wash them with mild or cold water based on your preference during the menstrual cycle days.

  • Discard the Menstrual Products Properly:

When you are using menstrual cups, then this is something you should skip off! When you are using pads, make sure to discard them properly after every single usage. Even though people clean, make sure they don’t feel bad while cleaning them. When you are changing, take the used pads, wrap them on the newly opened sheet, and then discard them in the dustbin.

  • Eat Healthily:

Eating also plays a vital role in women’s health during the menstrual period. Since the blood is discarded from your body, you tend to be weak and not much active compared to other normal days. Prefer eating healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, spinach, etc. instead of junk and oily foods. They also help in maintaining the pimples or marks that are popping during this time.

  • Keep yourself and your surroundings clean:

Even though you are clean, make sure your surroundings like your toilers are also kept clean. If you are using public toilets, make sure to use toilet sprays and also dispose of them properly so that others don’t feel disturbed.
