Xbox Design Lab is back: always with these limits?

I designed a personalized Xbox controller backward when they published for the first time the program in nature. Now, things are slightly better, but they are still not so wild and crazy I would like them. For Microsoft’s credit, they do not go “non-limits of myspace design” with official color options, but they do not limit users to pre-performed color combinations.

The options were fewer when I used the Xbox Design laboratory base when it was made available to the public. A controller I designed was almost monotonous. The only bummer was that I could go almost the complete distance – but Microsoft stopped short of complete options on all items. The Abxy and View, Menu and Share buttons remain slightly more limited than the rest of the controller.

Back to Launch in 2016, Xbox Design Lab had 15 color options for the main body of the controller. Here in 2021, for the Xbox One X, XBOX Design Lab controller has 18 color options. It seems here, more than the original, there is an all-colorful option as we wanted in the first place. Not quite all inclusive yet, but close.

With the original launch, we had 15 colors for the front, the back, the D-pad and the trigger assembly / top button. The joysticks have only 7 color options: blue midnight, black Abyss, red oxide, purple treat, military green, photon blue, gray of the storm and deep pink. Because the deep rose was the most attractive color at the disposal of most elements, I chose the deep rose.

Added to the mix for ABXY options is a new “Black on Colors” option, as we saw in the controllers of the old past generation school. Also added: a new “Black On White” option for view, menu, sharing buttons. Before it was just the other four options – gray on white was the only white option before now.

We always hope that Microsoft will come to their senses and deliver the complete spectrum in the always limited buttons. This, or become particularly strange with it and allow the buttons to be totally transparent. Can you imagine?

You can get a Microsoft Xbox Design laboratory controller for about 70 USD. Unless you want an engraving on said controller – at this point, it will cost more about 80 USD.

Note also: If you look in the buyers’ guide, I wrote in October 2016, the “best” range of controllers remains largely the same. Save the PDP range, which I am not quite sure of the quality of here in 2021, the rest of the suggestions now has new versions manufactured by Microsoft and Razer who are at least as good, if not much better than their predecessors . Take a look at this best Xbox One controller control to see why the Elite controller is always your best option if you only want black or white.
